National Caramel Day

It’s National Caramel Day! Did you know that caramel is essentially melted sugar that has been browned?

Caramel

Ingredients for making caramel vary depending on if you are making a candy, sauce, or any other form of caramel. But two ingredients remain evident in every possible way; milk and sugar.

Caramel has been around for centuries. It is stated that the hard candies date back to the 17th century when early American settlers would cook sugar and water together to make quick treats for their children. If you heat the caramel too long it will actually turn into toffee!
